Required Supplies

REQUIRED SUPPLIES

An instrument rental includes only the instrument and bow in the case. Additional supplies are required* for successful learning.

*I do have a limited stock of rosin, shoulder rests and rock stops - please contact me for more details.

Violins and Violas

Rosin

Rosin is a solid block made from tree sap that is applied to the bow before each use. This helps the bow hairs grip the strings to produce sound.

Shoulder rest for violins and violas

A shoulder rest holds the instrument upright. Without it, students cannot maintain correct posture and this will inhibit learning. Not all shoulder rests are adjustable, so please be sure it is the correct size for the instrument.

A soft, clean cloth

This can be tucked in their case and will be used to wipe down and remove rosin from their strings and instrument

Rock Stop OR Anchor Strap for cellos

A cello's endpin will slide on our slick gym floors unless it is placed in the divot of a rock stop or anchor strap.
